Start with serviceable demand
Write the brief around one customer, location, need, and next action. “Homeowners within our service area who need a same-week fence estimate” is actionable; “people who like renovations” is not. Confirm capacity, geography, hours, minimum job, exclusions, and response owner before filming. A clip that creates inquiries the business cannot serve is not a growth win.
Choose proof that reduces uncertainty
Show the diagnostic process, arrival area, staff role, materials, accessibility, time range, or what a customer should prepare. Protect addresses, license plates, documents, and customer identity. A hypothetical plumber brief could show how the team distinguishes a fixture leak from a supply-line leak using a training setup, clearly labeled as a demonstration rather than footage from a customer’s home.
Write the brief in seven lines
Include: target viewer; local trigger; single claim; visible proof; caveat; CTA; and success event. Example: “Viewer: renter in Northside. Trigger: no heat after hours. Claim: what information helps dispatch triage. Proof: technician demonstrates the shutoff and thermostat details on a mock setup. Caveat: emergencies follow local emergency guidance. CTA: use the service page. Success: eligible service-area call.” Every factual claim still needs current business review.
Connect attention to a local action
Use a landing page, booking path, trackable number, or intake question that preserves the platform/source without making the customer repeat everything. Google Business Profile performance distinguishes profile views from actions such as calls, directions, website clicks, messages, and bookings, with availability depending on the business (Google Business Profile Help). Those interactions are closer to intent than a video view, but a button click is still not a completed or qualified job.
Review quality with operations
Once a week, match content records to aggregate outcomes: eligible area, requested service, urgency, estimated value band, booked status, and reason rejected. Do not upload personal customer data to the content sheet. If a clip gets high reach but mostly out-of-area or unsuitable inquiries, revise the first frame and CTA to state location and service limits. If qualified demand exceeds capacity, slow distribution or narrow the offer rather than frustrating customers.
Add an operations sign-off before release. The service owner confirms hours, offer validity, staff availability, pricing language, safety instructions, and who answers the response channel. Give the front desk the clip link and campaign label so callers do not have to explain the post from scratch. After the window closes, document which objection or confusion should change the next brief.
Hypothesis to test: stating location, service boundary, and proof early will reduce unqualified inquiries while preserving useful demand. Small lead counts, seasonality, staff response time, local events, and other marketing make causal claims difficult, so compare several matched windows and record operational changes.
Put it into practice
Sources & limits
Local demand is seasonal and small samples are noisy. Profile interactions and content clicks are intent signals, not proof of completed jobs or incremental revenue.
